Asana’s Spring Release was lengthy, so I’m not going to be too hard on myself for missing some of these truly major updates. All these changes are coming live just in time for my Asana Automations Master Class.
REARRANGE RULE ORDER
While this does not change the running order of each rule (yet!), this is a major quality of life update for folks who have oodles of rules running in their projects. Let’s say you have 15 rules, 5 of them are archived, and another 10 are mapped to certain stages of your workflow. I used to get around this by numbering them, coding my emoji, or other tactics to visually distinguish which rules were relevant to the process I was troubleshooting.
Now, you can click and drag your rules however you see fit!
REORDER RULE ACTIONS
Have you ever realized at the end of building your rule that you really should have built it in a different order? Do you really want that new Assignee trigger to be the first thing that happens?
Previously, this would mean rebuilding the actions in the proper older. Not anymore! You can now reorder the rule actions within the builder seamlessly.
REARRANGE RULE BRANCHES
Similarly, branches can also now be rearranged.
DUPLICATE RULES
Have you ever crafted the perfect rule just to go ahead and have to rebuild it from scratch…twenty more times? This one truly had me floored. I was live on my Asana AI Studio for Project Managers webinar when I learned that this had been deployed.
Let’s say you want the exact same rule, but you want the entry point to be a separate Asana form. Duplicate that baby and just update the trigger.
Let’s say you finally have the perfect triaging rule on your Creative Intake, but now the IT team wants to use it. Copy to and that rule will be duplicated to another project.
